History Of Python:
  1. Python was developed by Guido Van Rossum in the late 1980s.
  2. Rossum published the first version of Python code (0.9.0) 27 Feb 1991 at the CWI (Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica) in the Netherlands , Amsterdam.
  3. Real implementation was started in December, 1989.
  4. Python is derived from ABC programming language, which is a general-purpose programming language that had been developed at the CWI.
  5. Python came into the market before Java. Java came into market in 1996 and Python in 1989.
  6. Python is now maintained by a core development team at the institute, although Rossum still holds a vital role in directing its progress (till 2018).

English Version:

Why Name “Python”?

  1. In December 1989, Van Rossum had been looking for a "'hobby' programming project that would keep him occupied during the week around Christmas" as his office was closed when he decided to write an interpreter for a "new scripting language he had been thinking about lately: a descendant of ABC that would appeal to Unix/C hackers.
  2. When he began implementing Python, Guido van Rossum was also reading the published scripts from “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”, a BBC comedy series from the 1970s. Van Rossum thought he needed a name that was short, unique, and slightly mysterious, so he decided to call the language Python.
